USDA Assistance with Single Housing Repair Loans and Grants

Pike County Light & Power understands that the cost to convert your home to natural gas can be prohibitive for some homeowners. To help you with this, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) offers homeowners in Pike County single-family housing repair loans and grants.

One way these low interest loans and grants can be used is for energy system upgrades to convert your home to natural gas. As of 2019, maximum loan amounts are $20,000 as of 2020, and maximum grants are $7,500. To be eligible for a grant, you must be 62 or older and unable to repay a repair loan. Check out the USDA informational fact sheet and USDA website for more information. You may also talk to a local USDA specialist at 570-836-5111 to ask questions and get help with the application.
